Skincare Products for the Cold: Your Guide to a Winter Skincare Routine

It’s that time of year when you step outside and you realize that you need to wear a jacket on top of your turtleneck and you’re actually excited to wear that mask to not only shut out viruses but also, keep us all warm and cozy. It's so important to have a skincare routine in the winter season and know what skincare products for the cold you should use because our skin needs the most support and craves those hydrating products such as balms, butters, lotions, and other seasonal favorites to heal dry skin.

All I know is that my Christmas wishlist is going to have skincare at the top, since I can’t get enough!

MIVASkin's FAVORITE WINTER SKINCARE PRODUCTS

If you're looking for a winter skincare routine for your face or wondering what products should be in a skincare routine, then you've come to the right place! Keep dry, irritated and flaky skin at bay with our favorite products this winter:

Winter Green Cream: What is “winter green cream,” you might ask? We have an answer! An Ayurvedic speciality cream, this hydrating balm is best for oily and acne prone skin. This Spot Correcting Anti-Acne Cream, from Biotique features Winter Green extract which acts as an astringent- minimizing pores and killing bacteria under the skin.

Rose Facial Mist: I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve walked outside the house for a quick coffee run, just to realize that the barista is about to notice my dry morning face. I love to keep a rose facial mist or two in my car for quick hydration emergencies. I don’t have to take my hands off the steering to quickly rub in cream either, I can just do a quick spritz or two, and I immediately notice a glow and feel hydrated. The Rose Facial Mist is a necessity at this point.

Apple Cider Vinegar Hair Mask: Uhhh, Apple Cider Vinegar, on my hair? Yes! Trust us when we tell you that ACV is a miracle ingredient when it comes to that gross dry winter scalp and stubborn dandruff. This hair mask is incredibly easy to apply, with no need to deal with “DIY masks at home.” Just take a glob, spread it on after you wash your hair, let it sit, and wash out. Super simple, ACV helps to remove and ward off bacteria that can cause itchiness, with antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties.

Coconut Oil: We’re going back to basics with straight up Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. Real quick, what’s the difference between regular and EVCO? Truly, not much. The “virgin” part essentially means that the oil is unrefined and typically cold pressed, but your skin will not be able to tell the difference. Put coconut oil, everywhere and anywhere on your body (unless you're allergic of course) and feel your dry skin heal naturally. Try swapping out your regular go-to after shower moisturizer with coconut oil, and although it might be a little difficult to adjust to the oily texture at first, it’s definitely worth a try for the amazing results!

Marigold Body Balm: If you’re not going to walk away with any of the items we mentioned in this article, let us change your mind with our favorite product of all time, the Marigold Body Balm. This body balm is uniquely handcrafted with antiseptic, healing properties of calendula oil and all natural beeswax, combining to create an all powerful winter skincare dream. Seriously I’m so incredibly passionate about this hydrating balm, and I notice an after-glow that only the 5pm golden hour can give you.
